GETTING TO THE VOLCANIC LEGACY SCENIC BYWAY
Getting to the Volcanic Legacy Scenic Byway couldn’t be easier. It’s near impossible to miss because it’s 500 miles in length and parallels highway 5, the major north-south freeway in California and Oregon. The byway is just east of highway 5.
The byway is a south-north (or north-south) scenic drive. If starting from the south, you’ll want to begin at Lassen Volcanic National Park. If starting from the north, you’ll begin at Crater Lake National Park.
But, for purposes of making it easier to explore, the byway has been segmented into regions, eleven of them, and each of these can be accessed and traveled as a stand-alone trip.
In the BYWAY MAPS portion of this website you will find detailed byway maps for each of the eleven segments.
